Julie Haven’s mercurial Piano Pop blends the style of Tori Amos' intricate piano work, the intensity of Alanis Morissette, the conviction of Fiona Apple, and a few other influential songwriters including Chantal Kreviazuk, PJ Harvey, and Sarah McLachlan, to make a unique sound of her own. Writing from her heart and her own experience, she allows her audience to personally connect with her music through her songs of love, heartbreak, personal growth and self-discovery.
In the house in Metro Detroit where she was born and raised, a very young Julie Haven started singing to an audience as early as when she spoke her first word. It was there that she rescued an old upright piano that no one played and was in danger of being tossed away. Julie saved this lonely vessel of expression from piano heaven when her parents noticed her strong connection with it. Julie had found her best friend. A few years later, self taught, she composed her first song when she was only 7 years old. By the age of 13 she was performing solo shows at local music venues, always impressing her audience with the emotional maturity she conveyed in her songs. It was after hearing Tori Amos’ album ”Under the Pink” in seventh grade that Julie started to take her music career seriously, which resulted in her first full length album release.
These days, while sharing her time between her hometown and her new home in South Florida, Julie has a very busy performance schedule as a solo artist, as well multiple other projects such as the female lead singer in popular Florida based party band 'bOunce’ and Detroit based Bluewater Kings Band (International Musicians League), while also making time to get back in the studio. She recently finished working with Producer Stephen Leiweke at Yackland Studio in Nashville, TN on her upcoming EP “Fools Gold” and will be finishing up a full album later this year.
The first single from “Fool’s Gold”, “See Me Cry” will be available on June 21st.

See Me Cry - June 24, 2019
We can all relate to loving someone that has played a game at our emotional expense...the contradictory evidence in someone’s actions vs what they say, like you say you love me but you clearly don’t. You hurt me, yet “you don’t want to see me cry”.
“See Me Cry” Julie Haven’s delightful first single from upcoming Ep “Fools Gold” is a throwback to all the best break up songs of the 90’s all rolled into an 80’s chick-flick soundtrack.
The production is the perfect foreplay for Julie Haven's eruptive vocal pay off at the end. A piano pounding pop gem with cinematic swells, this is the perfect combo of angst and frustration whilst still being sad and uplifting at the same time. Also produced by Steven Leiweke at Nashville’s Yackland Studios.
Love and War - July 12, 2019
Julie Haven pours out her heart and soul in this powerful song about being unhappy and broken in a relationship. Being afraid to leave, but more afraid of being alone is a problem many can relate to. “Love and War”has echos of late 80’s female empowerment, with it's epic drums, heavy toms, pounding piano and echoing guitar. You won’t be able to resist putting this heart- wrenching song with it’s three part harmonies on repeat. Produced by Steven Leiweke at Nashville’s Yackland Studios, this is Haven’s 2nd single from her upcoming EP “Fools Gold” available August 16th 2019.
“Fool’s Gold” EP - August 16, 2019
Loss and Love from different angles. This is the prelude to the full album ‘Dramatic Departures’ which will be released later this year. It's kind of a foreshadowing of the whole story. The first track “See Me Cry” is a throwback to all the best break up songs of the 90’s all rolled into an 80’s chick-flick soundtrack. The production is the perfect foreplay for Julie Haven's eruptive vocal pay off at the end . In the 2nd track “Love and War” Haven pours out her heart and soul in this powerful song about being unhappy and broken in a relationship. Being afraid to leave, but more afraid of being alone is a problem many can relate to. It has echos of late 80’s female empowerment, with it's epic drums, heavy toms, pounding piano and echoing guitar. The song “Dust” is about losing love very suddenly and essentially being "ghosted" by someone you thought was in it for the long hall leaving you with the torment of not being able to trust your instincts anymore. Last but not least “Fated” is a song about accepting the reality that the relationship is doomed, with an Aimee Mann and Fiona Apple influence, you won’t be able to resist putting these heart- wrenching songs on repeat. Haven’s songs are honest and open about despair and utter heartbreak. “Fools Gold’ was recorded at Yackland Studio in Nashville with producer and engineer Stephen Leiweke.
