Hailing from the hills of West Virginia is Appalachian based Artist, Singer/Songwriter, and Rocker, Emmalea Deal. Coming from a lineage of hobby instrumentalists and music lovers, Deal has art flowing through her veins; Which is nothing short of what you would expect after listening to her thoughts and clever lyrics.

Emmalea is what you would call a well rounded musician and writer, regularly creating original music and playing shows since age 12. She is an eclectically, raw, 21st century icon in the making.

Deal blends sounds that combine all the glitters and gold of rock, and the dirty, powerful side of pop all to create a timeless fusion of modern alternative. She is simply unapologetically herself everyday; the neon boy-short hair, the glamorous makeup, the bold clothing. It’s only a portion of what makes Emmalea so lovably infectious.

Recently, Emmalea has taken her talent not only to new regions but into the studio as well. Her most recent EP, “Queen” is set to release early 2019. After trial and beautifully executed error, Deal has crafted a unique sound in the studio with her latest work. It’s that feeling in the pit of your stomach, or the butterflies you get when you see your crush. It’s the aura of her EP, ”Queen” that she has carefully crafted for the ears of many listeners.

The great thing about Emmalea Deal is that you never know exactly what you’re going to get, except that it will be authentic and irresistible.

“Queen” Single - January 4th

The “Queen” Single is a strong introduction to Emmalea Deal’s latest record. As no stranger to creativity in the studio, Deal really brings the house down with this track. Rightfully so, since even the album is named after the single.

Emmalea blended a handful of genres and influences to create this retro inspired, modern song. The melodic side of Queen also adds to the timeless feel. Initially, Queen falls into the Alt-Pop genre, but when diving further and chatting with Emmalea herself it is clear this song was inspired by Deal’s love for blues and jazz music.

The lyrical content is what really ties the song together. With references to past Hollywood stars all to way luxurious materials like silk and cashmere (and of course the ongoing themes of royalty,) This song makes you feel like your driving on a highway at night, windows down, holding your partner’s hand, talking about anything and everything. It creates a moment that you go to everytime you listen. All of these Lush, Dreamy lyrics go towards the greater message of the song, however.  A love so passionate, you only need one another. No frills, no diamonds, no money, just love.

Everything I'm Not Single - Emmalea Deal

“Everything I’m Not” is a heavier track compared to its big sister single, “Queen”. Emmalea often describes this song as the most personal track on the record. Deal says, “ ‘Everything I’m Not’ is what life was at age 16 for me. Realizing I loved somebody who will never truly love me for who I am, being suffocated with the constant thought of not being good enough for that person, and finally coming to terms with it. In the end I stood with myself, not against.

There is so much pain, love, sadness, and feeling in this track. What I explained only scratches the lyrical surface.” The second single is entirely home hitting for Deal and for a lot of individuals.

Musically, this track has a large number of industrial sound effects used to create a cold, rough feeling. With a slow build and explosively beautiful Pop breakdown, this leads into a bridge with moving self-love inspired lyrics. “Everything I’m Not” overall has themes of teenage love, loss, insecurity, vulnerability, and defeat. Dark, yet powerful and inspirational. Emmalea has brought the earth to its knees with yet another gorgeously authentic masterpiece.

Queen EP - February 8th

Queen EP - Emmalea Deal

The Queen EP is a lyrical and musical work of art by young pop-rocker, Emmalea Deal. The album was recorded in Yackland Studio in East Nashville, and produced by New York native, Margaret Becker. With a flair for creativity, Becker and Deal hit it off making this record a wondrous experience from start to finish.

Deal often describes the Queen EP as a “Diary” for her revealing that all of the songs were inspired by personal matters of hers and those close to her. “Everything you hear, is real. Every bit of it. This was my way to tell my story of who I was and what was going on when I wrote the songs.” Emmalea stated. The Queen EP is a box full of musical goodness, and is essential when taking interest in the artistry of Emmalea Deal.

The record will feature 7 original songs written by Emmalea Deal. Including a Remix and an Unplugged Live Version of one of the songs. The Queen EP will be available everywhere digitally February 8th, 2019.
