We believe there are five pillars that make up the foundation of an artist career. There is no task that needs to be completed that can’t fall into one of these buckets. Though the tasks change, the way we approach the foundational aspects do not. Which make these pillars a stable way of viewing artist development.

  1. Operations

This pillar is the cornerstone. It is where you will section out tasks relating to the creation and completion of your music and content through creative collaboration and team building. It’s also where you’ll approach business structure and and revenue streams. As the team grows a manager or day-to-day manager will take over majority of the tasks in this pillar.

  2. Brand Identity & Partnerships

This is the most introspective part of the Zero To 60 program. We believe that the artists can get the best idea of who they are through the lens of who they’d like to be in partnership with. By thinking about what value an artist can bring to a brand partner the you can discover what value you bring to your own community. Tasks related to creating meaningful partnerships with other brands, artists, influencers and movements will live in this pillar.

  3. Performance

The live performance is where the artist brings the full picture of their brand and craft to the audience. The first step is to understand what type of performance is the right fit for the artist. Then you work to create performance opportunities that will grow as the career develops. This is different than the work you’ll do in operations opting for opening for other artists or working with an agent. This is about creating a self-sustained live performance strategy that will last the duration of the development period.

  4. Publicity

Receiving third party affirmation about an artists release is the single most effective way to secure new partners, team members, and fans. But it doesn’t bring new fans in the way that it used to. Now, publicity opportunities are used to excite and engage the audience you already have. So when working through publicity related tasks it’s important to have a realistic idea of the press you’re likely to receive for the project and make sure you’ve strategized a way to use it to grow an existing audience.

  5. Marketing

If publicity is about crafting the way other people talk about the art, marketing is the way the artist talks about the art. It starts by identifying the key hooks in the story that are going to grab a fans attention. From there you lay out the best plan to take a fan through an experience and eventually land in a super fan community. A bulk of these tasks will live on social platforms but marketing as a pillar and concept goes way beyond just pictures and short videos. It’s about the tasks that needs to be done to create a connection between the artist and the fan.
